this project combined live monologues with photographs and interviews of families discussing how to raise children

potential* ran from January 6 - February 12, 2017 with two openings on the First Fridays for those months. Held at The Flight Deck in downtown Oakland, the project combined live monologues with photographs of families and interviews of those families; the interviews explored how parents attempted to teach their children about their minority statuses in an increasingly tense world, and how children receive those teachings in combination with their own experiences. Overall, the project was a multidisciplinary exploration in the effect of structural violence within the familial structure.
